Irish Bred horses sought after

Kent Farrington (USA) captured a win in the first FEI class of the 2015 Holiday & Horses CSI 4* hosted at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center riding ‘Blue Angel’ (Luidam) to victory in the $34,000 Equiline Holiday & Horses Opener Grand Prix.

The Irish Sport Horse ‘Pepperpot’ by Heritage Fortunus x Kilkenny Trump finished in 4th place with Hardin Towell in a time of 37.35. Jennifer Gates owns this top class mare.

Pepperpots road to Palm Beach

‘Pepperpot’ was bred by Thomas Hughes in Co Kilkenny.

‘Pepperpot’ started her career under the saddle of Marion Hughes before being sold to Joanne Sloan Allen from Sycamore Farm.

The very talented Egyptian rider Sameh El Dahan took over the ride once she arrived at Sycamore Farms and the combination had some fantastic results together up to 5* level.

‘Pepperpot’ was then sold to Artisan Farms and later Jennifer Gates. Its fair to say the Irish bred horses are still very sought after around the world and in particular and in particular the United States.

Evidence from this can be seen with horses such as ‘Pepperpot’ and the recent sale of ‘Dougie Douglas’ to Barry O Connor for and American client.

Other Irish bred horses sold to high profile American riders include: Lisona (OBOS Quality X Porsch) To Jessica Springsteen, Codarco (Darco X Orame) to Chole Reid, Special Lux (Lux Z X Coille Mor Hill) To Johnathon Mcrea, Mullaghdrin Rado (Radolin) To Alex Granato and  Wotsamillion (Captain Clover X Atlantic Boy) To Laura Kraut.
