19 year old Jos Verlooy and ‘Domino’ have won the Los Angeles Masters Grand Prix in a thrilling competition that knocked out some of the world’s very best, including Scott Brash, Beezie Madden and Meredith Micheal’s Beerbaum to name a few.The track was extremely tight and technical and caught out some very experienced riders.
Consequently, just 6 horse and rider combinations went through to the jump off. Jos Verlooy, (BEL)Steve Guerdat, (SWl) Cameron Hanley IRE) Kevin Staut, (FRA) Lauren Hough (USA) and Georgina Bloomberg (USA).
Jos and ‘Domino’ led from the start with a lighting fast round in a time of 38.11. Steve Guerdat and new mount ‘Albfuehren’s Paille’ were very close to lifting the cup but with a time of 39.98 had to settle for 2nd place tonight.
Georgina Bloomberg and her Central Park winner ‘Juvina’ had a great round but just couldn’t reach Verlooys time tonight and finished in 3rd place. Kevin Staut and and Estoy Aqui de Muze H D C looked set to take over but just tipped a pole in a time of 38.74 and ended up in 4th place.
Lauren Hough and ‘Reconnaissance’ started with a purpose but just rolled a pole and this placed them 5th in the final line up.
Cameron Hanley and the 9 year old, ‘Living the dream’ by ‘Toulon’ ‘started with a steady pace and were very unlucky to have one fence down in the jump off, but this beautiful round on a young horse, placed them in 6th position.
