Irish Olympian Greg Broderick and Canadian owner, Lee Kruger have sold MHS Going Global to Athina Onasiss.
Broderick, who keeps the horse at his Ballypatrick Stables at The Ragg in Co Tipperary, rode a double clear round on MHS Going Global in the Nations Cup at the 2015 Dublin Horse Show to clinch the Aga Khan trophy for Ireland. They also rode a double clear in the same competition in 2016.
He said he hoped the sale would “put Ireland back on the map as a place to buy world class horses.”
The gelding was bred by the late Ita Brennan at Mill House Stud in Gowran, Co Kilkenny
Greg and Going Global rounded off a spectacular year by competing at the Olympic games in Rio this summer.
It has been suggested that the horse changed hands for a fee in the region of €10m – €12m. If this is true, such a fee would be the biggest ever paid for an Irish horse and also one of the most expensive show jumping horses in the world.
